A new method using corrected Standard Uptake Value (cSUVmax) from 18F-FDG PET scans improves prediction of local control and recurrence after lung cancer stereotactic body radiosurgery (SBRT). This cSUVmax offers a more reliable assessment than SUVmax alone.

- Background-corrected SUVmax (cSUVmax) is a more reliable parameter than SUVmax alone for predicting local control and recurrence in follow-up PET scans after lung SBRT.
- A low cSUVmax strongly correlates with local control following lung SBRT.
- Elevated cSUVmax suggests a potential for local recurrence.
