Abnormal rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) thresholds predict significant blood loss and transfusion needs in off-pump coronary artery bypass graft surgery (OPCABG). ROTEM can guide timely interventions to reduce bleeding and transfusions.

Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate the predictive capability of rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) thresholds for coagulopathy.
  • To determine the association between abnormal ROTEM thresholds and increased perioperative blood loss in OPCABG.
  • To investigate the link between ROTEM findings and transfusion requirements during OPCABG.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 303 patients undergoing OPCABG.

  • ROTEM can serve as a valuable tool for identifying patients at risk of bleeding.
  • Timely hemostatic interventions guided by ROTEM may reduce blood loss and transfusion requirements in OPCABG.
