    Area of Science:

    • Pediatric Gastroenterology
    • Colorectal Pathology
    • Immunohistochemistry

    Background:

    • Lymphoid polyps are uncommon, benign rectal lesions in children.
    • They typically have a favorable prognosis with local treatment.

    Observation:

    • A pediatric patient presented with a cluster of lymphoid polyps.
    • These polyps appeared 9 months after the removal of a single, initial lymphoid polyp.

    Findings:

    • Immunocytochemical examination revealed a monoclonal nature.
    • All observed polyps, including the original lesion, shared this monoclonal characteristic.

    Implications:

    • The monoclonal nature suggests a neoplastic or pre-neoplastic process.
    • This finding may indicate a risk of recurrence or multifocal development of lymphoid polyps.
    • Further research into the pathogenesis and long-term behavior of pediatric lymphoid polyps is warranted.
