Background:

Fibromyalgia is a complex chronic pain condition requiring multidisciplinary care.
Existing fibromyalgia treatment programs vary significantly in their structure and integration of disciplines.
Lack of structured analysis hinders accurate comparison of intervention outcomes.

Purpose of the Study:

To map and characterize multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary fibromyalgia treatment programs.
To focus on the degree of integration among different health disciplines within these programs.
To provide a foundation for future quantitative reviews on fibromyalgia interventions.

Main Methods:

A literature search was conducted on PubMed and Scopus for studies on multidisciplinary fibromyalgia treatments.
Included 22 noncontrolled studies, 10 controlled studies, and 17 randomized controlled trials (RCTs).
Evaluated 38 distinct multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary interventions, assessing study quality and outcomes.

Main Results:

The average quality of the included studies was low.
Intervention integration ranged from simple component juxtaposition to complex teamwork.
Common outcomes measured included pain intensity, quality of life, and psychological variables.
Detailed descriptions of program duration, setting, components, and professionals were compiled.

Conclusions:

Significant heterogeneity exists in the integration of disciplines within fibromyalgia rehabilitation programs.
The low quality of existing studies necessitates cautious interpretation of findings.
Further research should consider the structural integration of programs for more precise outcome analysis in fibromyalgia care.
