Lower serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels are linked to increased depression symptoms in individuals withdrawing from methamphetamine (METH) dependence. This finding highlights BDNF as a potential biomarker for depression during METH withdrawal.

Conclusions:
- Lower serum BDNF levels are associated with an increased risk of depression symptoms during METH withdrawal.
- BDNF may serve as a potential biomarker for predicting depression in this population.
