Reduction of avoidance behavior of institutionalized mentally retarded adults through contact desensitization

A multiple-baseline design across participants was used to demonstrate the effectiveness of contact desensitization and contingent social approval in decreasing the avoidance behavior of three institutionalized mentally retarded adults towards escalators, measured by a 25-item Behavior Avoidance Test.
