Socioemotional Development during Infancy

Socio-emotional development in infancy is primarily shaped by early emotional responses and social connections, with temperament playing a central role. Temperament refers to the consistent patterns in an individual's emotional and behavioral responses, observable even in infancy. By examining temperament, researchers can better understand an infant's unique ways of interacting with the world, influencing subsequent personality and socio-emotional growth.

Emotional intelligence (EI) education improved nurse leaders in nursing homes, showing a positive link to transformational leadership. Personal leadership development was less effective in this study.

Background:

The demand for skilled nurse leaders in nursing homes is rising.
Effective leadership is crucial for quality patient care and staff retention.
Limited research exists on leadership development programs specifically for nursing home nurse leaders.

Purpose of the Study:

To evaluate an emotional intelligence (EI) and leadership development program for 20 nurse leaders in nursing homes.
To explore the relationship between EI and transformational leadership among these nurse leaders.

Main Methods:

The study involved 20 nurse leaders from nursing home facilities.
Quantitative analysis, including correlation and t-tests, was used to answer research questions.

Main Results:

The EI education component of the program was found to be effective.
Personal leadership development within the program was not effective.
A significant positive relationship was identified between emotional intelligence and transformational leadership.

Conclusions:

Emotional intelligence education is a valuable tool for enhancing leadership in nursing home settings.
Further research with larger, diverse samples is needed to establish causality.
Findings offer insights for developing targeted EI and leadership training for nurses.
