Background:

Evidence-based practice is vital for improving patient outcomes in healthcare.
Understanding the gap between knowledge and practice in audiology is essential for enhancing service delivery.

Purpose of the Study:

To explore the "know-do" gaps in hearing aid fitting management (HAFM) among audiology professionals.
To analyze professional awareness and attitudes concerning HAFM components.

Main Methods:

A questionnaire with 22 questions across 11 HAFM components was used.
Respondents rated the importance and practice of each component using a Visual Analogue Scale.
Data from 51 hearing care professionals were analyzed, comparing "knowing" and "doing" scores.

Main Results:

Professionals reported high scores for both knowledge ("knowing") and practice ("doing") in HAFM.
Significant "know-do" gaps were identified, with "knowing" scores consistently higher than "doing" scores across all components.
The largest gaps were found in HAFM components primarily addressed during follow-up sessions.

Conclusions:

A notable discrepancy exists between theoretical knowledge and practical application in hearing aid fitting management.
Audiology services require improvement, particularly in follow-up sessions, to bridge the identified "know-do" gaps.
Enhanced practical guidelines focusing on follow-up care are needed to improve HAFM and patient outcomes.
