This study reports a rare case of intracranial aneurysms in a patient with Behçet's disease. Treatment with prednisone and azathioprine led to successful aneurysm resolution.
Area of Science:
- Neurology
- Vascular Medicine
- Rheumatology
Background:
- Behçet's disease is a rare systemic inflammatory vasculitis.
- Cardiovascular complications are common, but intracranial aneurysms are exceptionally rare.
- This case highlights a unique presentation of Behçet's disease.
Observation:
- A 41-year-old male with known Behçet's disease presented with headache.
- Cranial computed tomography angiography revealed unruptured right supra cavernous internal carotid artery aneurysm and right sylvian artery aneurysm.
Findings:
- The patient was treated with prednisone and azathioprine.
- Follow-up imaging demonstrated complete resolution of both intracranial aneurysms.
Implications:
- This case suggests that immunosuppressive therapy may be effective in managing intracranial aneurysms associated with Behçet's disease.
- Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial for preventing potentially life-threatening complications.
- Further research is warranted to understand the pathogenesis and optimal management of vascular manifestations in Behçet's disease.
