Lysyl-oxidase activity in the odontoblast-predentine layer isolated from bovine incisor teeth

Abstract:
This layer had lysyl-oxidase (EC 1.4.3.13) activity, 4-11 times higher than either the sub-odontoblast layer or central pulp tissue, and similar to that in chick aorta, one of the tissues richest in such activity. This finding relates to the potential for rapid cross-link formation following synthesis of the predentine collagenous matrix.
