Summary

This case study details the successful treatment of a complex defect in the anterior maxilla using forced eruption and minimally invasive ridge augmentation. The combined approach achieved predictable esthetic results and full tridimensional reconstruction of the compromised area.

  • High smile line and compromised tissues necessitated an interdisciplinary approach.
  • Defect involved alveolar height deficit and compromised hard and soft tissues around teeth 6 and 8.

Findings:

  • Forced eruption restored alveolar height and developed compromised tissues.
  • Subperiosteal minimally invasive (a)esthetic ridge-augmentation technique (SMART) provided horizontal bone augmentation.
  • Immediate postextraction implants with a flapless approach and provisional prosthesis achieved tridimensional reconstruction.

Implications:

  • Combined therapies successfully restored gingival and alveolar volumes and gingival margin levels.
  • This interdisciplinary approach offers predictable esthetic outcomes for complex defects.
  • Minimally invasive techniques preserve soft-tissue architecture while achieving bone augmentation.
