Abstract:
This article has been retracted: please see Elsevier policy on Article Correction, Retraction and Removal (https://www.elsevier.com/about/policies-and-standards/article-withdrawal). This article has been retracted at the request of the the editor-in-chief. A reader communicated concerns to the editorial office. These concerns are also echoed in a Pubpeer thread (https://pubpeer.com/publications/D9519B92998E6AD186E49846F789C4) where readers drew attention to similarities between figures within this article. Image analysis performed by the editorial office revealed evidence of image duplication within Figures 2D, 2E, 4C, 6C, and 6D of this article. Evidence of image recycling was also found between images in Figures 3J, 4B, and 6B of this article and an article in Oncotarget by the same authors (Zhu et al., 2017, Oncotarget 8, 71881-71893, https://doi.org/10.18632/oncotarget.17985). This reuse of data without appropriate attribution represents a severe abuse of the scientific publishing system. The authors did not agree to retract.

Tumor Progression
Colon cancer is one of the best-documented examples of tumor progression. Early mutation in the APC gene in colon cells causes a small growth on the colon wall called a polyp. With time, this polyp grows into a benign, pre-cancerous tumor. Further...
