To quantify Brazilian nursing journals indexed in the Cumulative Index to Nursing & Allied Health Literature (CINAHL).
To discuss the accessibility of nursing literature for Brazilian nurses.

Brazil has 3 nursing journals indexed in CINAHL (1981), significantly fewer than countries like the USA (139).
The study also addresses Brazilian nursing theses and their registration.
Difficulties faced by Brazilian nurses in accessing nursing literature are highlighted.
