Abstract:
This article discusses the physiology of normal hearing, the pathophysiology and differential diagnoses of sudden sensorineural hearing loss, and an approach for definitive diagnosis and treatment. A focus is placed on idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss in the adult population in a primary care setting.
