Homologous blood transfusions carry risks, but safer alternatives like predeposit autologous blood transfusion (PABT) and acute normovolemic hemodilution (ANH) are underutilized. Implementing PABT and ANH can significantly reduce the need for homologous blood, even in facilities without a blood bank.
