Summary

Traumatic globe dislocation into the maxillary sinus is rare and often leads to poor vision. Immediate surgical intervention and steroid treatment may improve visual outcomes in these critical cases.

  • A 45-year-old female sustained blunt facial trauma, presenting with no light perception and an anophthalmic socket.
  • Neuroimaging confirmed a maxillary sinus fracture with globe displacement.

Findings:

  • Surgical exploration, globe repositioning, and fracture repair were performed.
  • Intravenous methylprednisolone followed by oral steroids was administered.
  • Final visual acuity improved to counting fingers at 1 meter after 18 months.

Implications:

  • Immediate surgical intervention is suggested to improve visual prognosis in traumatic globe dislocation.
