Acute graft-versus-host disease (aGVHD) is a serious complication after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT) remains a significant cause of both morbidity and mortality in these patients. The unique immunomodulatory properties of mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) make them an invaluable cell type for treating GVHD. In this review, the clinical application and its mechamism of MSC are summarized.
