Tick-borne encephalitis in a naturally infected sheep

This study reports the first case of clinical tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) infection in a European sheep. The lamb displayed neurological signs, and TBEV RNA was detected in its brain, confirming the diagnosis.

- While sporadic animal cases are reported, many wild and domestic animals test positive for TBEV antibodies.
