Summary

Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pleocytosis in adults has diverse causes beyond infection, including neurological diseases and malignancy. Lower leukocyte counts in CSF increase the range of possible diagnoses, often pointing to non-infectious conditions like seizures.
