Summary

Restriction fragment length polymorphisms in immunoglobulin lambda constant region genes were analyzed in rheumatoid arthritis patients. Specific gene variants were found to be more common in patients, suggesting a link to rheumatoid arthritis susceptibility.

  • Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease with a complex etiology.
  • Genetic factors are known to play a role in RA susceptibility.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between immunoglobulin lambda constant region gene polymorphisms and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • To determine if specific RFLPs correlate with RA risk.

  • Genomic DNA from rheumatoid arthritis patients and control subjects was analyzed.
  • Restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) were detected using an immunoglobulin lambda constant region probe and Eco RI digests.
