Summary

Isolated limb perfusion (ILP) with high-dose melphalan and tumor necrosis factor α is effective for locally advanced angiosarcoma, yielding high complete response rates and limb salvage. This treatment offers prolonged progression-free survival for extremity angiosarcomas.

Background:

  • Angiosarcomas are rare, aggressive soft-tissue sarcomas.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To report the outcomes of isolated limb perfusion (ILP) for locally advanced angiosarcomas.
  • To evaluate the efficacy of high-dose melphalan and tumor necrosis factor α in ILP.
  • To assess treatment response, progression, and limb salvage rates.

Main Methods:

  • Retrospective analysis of 39 patients with angiosarcoma treated with ILP between 1991 and 2016.
  • Data collected from prospectively maintained databases in three tertiary referral centers.
