Summary

Vitiligo patients have a significantly higher frequency of psoriasis (6%) compared to healthy individuals (0.4%). This study confirms a close relationship between these two autoimmune skin conditions.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To determine the prevalence of psoriasis in vitiligo patients and vice versa.
  • To compare these frequencies with those in healthy control populations.
  • To investigate familial aggregation of psoriasis in vitiligo patients and vice versa.

Main Methods:

  • A case-control study involving 1000 participants: 250 with vitiligo, 250 with psoriasis, and 500 healthy controls.
  • Assessed disease frequencies and family history of related conditions within each group.
  • Statistical analysis to compare frequencies between patient and control groups.
