    Background:

    • Rectal cancer treatment has advanced, but survival still depends on patient, tumor, and surgical factors.
    • Understanding prognostic indicators is crucial for effective rectal cancer management.

    Purpose of the Study:

    • To analyze survival rates and identify prognostic factors in patients treated for rectal cancer.

    Main Methods:

    • Retrospective analysis of 154 rectal cancer patients.
    • Statistical analysis using SPSS, including Kaplan-Meier survival curves, univariate (odds ratio), and multivariate (Cox model) analyses.
    • Significance level set at p < 0.05.

    Main Results:

    • Five-year overall survival was 42.4%; 5-year recurrence-free survival was 69.15%.
    • Univariate analysis identified age > 70, CEA level, tumor perforation, TNM stage, differentiation, transfusion, and recurrence as significant factors.
    • Multivariate analysis revealed age > 70, T stage, and local recurrence as independent prognostic factors.

    Conclusions:

    • Improved understanding of prognostic factors can lead to better rectal cancer management.
    • Identification of key factors supports tailored adjuvant treatment and closer patient surveillance.
