Purpose of the Study:

  • To investigate the association between ART cycles using cryopreserved-warmed embryo transfer (ET) and the incidence of preeclampsia.
  • To compare preeclampsia rates between cryopreserved-warmed ET and fresh ET in singleton and twin pregnancies.
  • To analyze risks for different preeclampsia subtypes and chronic hypertension with superimposed preeclampsia.

  • In twin ART pregnancies from autologous eggs, higher rates of preeclampsia with severe features and preeclampsia with preterm delivery were noted after cryopreserved-warmed ET compared to fresh ET.

Conclusions:

  • ART pregnancies conceived with autologous eggs and cryopreserved-warmed embryo transfer demonstrate an elevated risk of preeclampsia, particularly with severe features and preterm delivery.
  • The findings suggest a potential link between cryopreserved embryo transfer and adverse maternal hypertensive outcomes.
  • No significant difference in preeclampsia rates was observed between cryopreserved-warmed and fresh ET in donor egg pregnancies.
