Purpose of the Study:

  • To evaluate changes in occlusal contact force on single posterior implants.
  • To assess the impact of implant restoration on opposing natural teeth.
  • To analyze these changes at 3- and 6-month intervals post-insertion.

Main Methods:

  • Prospective cohort study of 21 patients with single posterior implant restorations.
  • Occlusal analysis using T-Scan computerized system.
  • Measurement of Percentage of Force on Implant crowns (POFI) and contralateral teeth (POFT).

Main Results:

  • POFI significantly increased at 3 and 6 months compared to baseline.
  • Significant differences in POFI were observed between 3 and 6 months.
  • POFT significantly decreased at 3 and 6 months compared to baseline.

Conclusions:

  • Occlusal contact intensity on implant prostheses gradually increases post-insertion.
  • Single posterior implants reduce the occlusal force on the contralateral arch.
  • Regular occlusal adjustments are necessary to manage dynamic occlusal forces.
