Rare peripheral T cells migrate to and persist in normal mouse thymus

Peripheral T cells can enter the thymus, challenging the unidirectional traffic model. Rare T cells migrate to the thymic medulla, exhibiting a mature phenotype and suggesting the medulla shares features with peripheral lymphoid organs.
