A Subconscious Interaction between Fixation and Anticipatory Pursuit.

Prior fixation of a stationary object involuntarily suppresses subsequent smooth pursuit eye movements, even when consciously anticipating movement. This subconscious inhibition highlights an interaction between fixation and pursuit systems.
