Phase-matching properties of LiGaS2 in the 1.025-10.5910 μm spectral range
Abstract:
This Letter reports on the new experimental results for second-harmonic generation and sum-frequency generation in LiGaS2 in the 1.025-10.5910 μm range, together with the new Sellmeier equations, which provide a good reproduction of the present experimental results, as well as the published data points for a Ti:Al2O3 laser (λ=0.8200 μm)-pumped optical parametric amplifier in the 3.7434-11.0079 μm range and a Nd:YAG laser-pumped optical parametric oscillator at ∼5.457 μm.

Crystal Field Theory - Octahedral Complexes
To explain the observed behavior of transition metal complexes (such as colors), a model involving electrostatic interactions between the electrons from the ligands and the electrons in the unhybridized d orbitals of the central metal atom has been developed. This electrostatic model is crystal field theory (CFT). It helps to understand, interpret, and predict the colors, magnetic behavior, and some structures of coordination compounds of transition metals.
