Area of Science:

  • Orthopedic Surgery
  • Traumatology
  • Hand Surgery

Background:

  • Dislocations of finger joints are common orthopedic injuries.
  • Multiple joint dislocations within a single digit are exceptionally rare.

Observation:

  • The abstract describes a rare case of a triple dislocation affecting all interphalangeal joints in one finger.
  • Previous literature documented double dislocations and some multiple dislocations, but not a triple dislocation in a single digit.

Findings:

  • This case represents the first reported instance of a triple interphalangeal joint dislocation in a single finger.
  • The rarity of this injury highlights the spectrum of possible digital trauma.

Implications:

  • This case expands the understanding of severe finger joint injuries.
  • It may inform diagnostic and treatment strategies for complex digital trauma.
