Prefrontal Cortex Drives Distinct Projection Neurons in the Basolateral Amygdala

The prefrontal cortex (PFC) selectively targets specific neurons in the basolateral amygdala (BLA). This allows the PFC to control emotional responses by preferentially activating amygdala-hippocampal and amygdala-cortical pathways.
