  • 98.2% of PCF samples were PCR-positive for bacteria; 100% were NGS-positive.
  • 408 bacterial genera were identified in PCF.
  • Bacteroides, Escherichia/Shigella, and Acidaminococcus were predominant genera, with notable Staphylococcus and Fusobacterium.

Conclusions:

  • A distinct bacterial ecosystem exists in pancreatic cyst fluid, potentially reflecting the pancreatic local microbiota.
  • The identified pancreatic microbiome may contribute to pancreatic neoplastic processes.
  • Further research is needed to understand the host-microbiota relationship in pancreatic diseases.
