Revascularization for acute blunt popliteal artery injury

A motorcycle accident victim with a femur fracture and leg ischemia underwent popliteal artery revascularization. Despite initial treatment, amputation was necessary due to infection, but the patient recovered with an artificial limb.

- Successful limb salvage is not always achievable, even with timely vascular repair.
- Rehabilitation with prosthetic devices can lead to functional recovery after lower extremity amputation.
