Heartworm preventives may be less effective due to reduced susceptibility in certain Dirofilaria immitis isolates. Genetic analysis of the JYD-34 isolate confirms it shares genetic traits with these less susceptible strains, impacting macrocyclic lactone (ML) efficacy.
