Incidental Appendiceal Carcinoids: Is Surgery Affecting Their Incidence?

Appendiceal carcinoids occur in 1.6% of patients undergoing appendectomy for acute appendicitis, primarily in young females. The incidence of these tumors is not linked to the number of appendectomies performed.
