Male alcoholics' perceptions of their fathers

Male alcoholics who describe their fathers as alcoholic are significantly less likely to perceive themselves as like their fathers when compared with male alcoholics who do not describe their fathers as alcoholic. The findings are discussed in the context of the importance of family history as it relates to treatment interventions with male alcoholics.
