Abstract:
Complications originating from the petrous bone may occur in the absence of any tympanic membrane pathology. This is known from a couple of cases in the literature and is underlined by two own case reports. Today, computed tomography and/or magnetic resonance imaging play a major role in the diagnosis of such rare but dangerous diseases.
