Background:

Purpose of the Study:

  • To monitor and describe the national utilization of electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) in adult psychiatric facilities within the Czech Republic for the year 2014.
  • To gather comprehensive data on ECT procedures, indications, and adverse effect monitoring to inform national practice.

Main Methods:

  • A 14-item questionnaire was distributed to all Czech inpatient psychiatric facilities providing ECT.
  • Data collected included technical infrastructure, treatment indications, procedural details, adverse event documentation, and legal/ethical considerations.
