Increased systemic microbial translocation is associated with depression during early pregnancy

Depression during early pregnancy is linked to increased microbial translocation, indicated by higher lipopolysaccharide (LPS) levels. These levels decrease later in pregnancy and postpartum in both depressed and healthy mothers.
