Summary

Thalamocortical units (TCUs) in the thalamus exhibit more vigorous and broader responses to whisker stimuli compared to regular-spike units (RSUs) in the sensory cortex. Cortical RSUs show more focused excitatory receptive fields with inhibitory surrounds, unlike TCUs.
