The interleukin-17 (IL-17) pathway may have a reduced role in new-onset Type 1 diabetes (T1D) as IL-17 Receptor A expression is lower in T cells. No IL-17A gene variants were linked to T1D susceptibility.

- Reduced IL-17RA expression on T cells in recent-onset T1D suggests a diminished IL-17A-mediated immune response in peripheral tissues.
- IL-17A gene variants and haplotypes are not associated with T1D susceptibility in the studied cohort.
