A rare urethral duplication in a premature infant was diagnosed using contrast-enhanced voiding urosonography (ceVUS) and voiding cystourethrography (VCUG). This imaging technique successfully visualized the anomaly, marking a novel diagnostic approach for this condition.
Area of Science:
- Pediatric Urology
- Diagnostic Imaging
- Medical Case Reports
Background:
- Urethral duplication is a rare congenital anomaly affecting the male genitourinary system.
- Imperforate anus and hypospadias are other congenital anomalies that can be associated with urethral abnormalities.
- Diagnostic imaging plays a crucial role in identifying and characterizing these complex anatomical variations.
