Blinding

Blinding is a commonly used method of not telling participants which treatment a subject is receiving. Blinding is a critical part of a randomized control trial or RCT. It reduces the bias that affects the results. In an RCT, blinding is used in the form of a placebo. A placebo effect occurs when untreated subjects falsely believe they have received the treatment and report improved symptoms. A placebo or a dummy treatment is administered to subjects to negate the bias caused by such an effect.

Purpose of the Study:

To investigate canine behavioral responses to color stimuli.
To develop and validate a method for assessing animal color vision.

Main Methods:

A modified Ishihara's test, typically used for human deuteranopia diagnosis, was adapted for dogs.
Behavioral responses of dogs were observed and analyzed.

Main Results:

Dogs demonstrated behavioral reactions consistent with red-green color blindness in humans.
The adapted Ishihara's test proved effective in eliciting differential responses.

Conclusions:
