  • Whole bowel irrigation can be safely employed in the third trimester of pregnancy for managing acute overdose.
  • The treatment resulted in successful clearance of the ingested iron.
  • No maternal or fetal complications were observed during or after the procedure.

Implications:

  • This case suggests that whole bowel irrigation is a viable and safe treatment option for acute overdose in late pregnancy.
  • It expands the known applications of WBI to include obstetric toxicology.
  • Further research may be warranted to establish definitive guidelines for WBI use in pregnant patients.
