Today, scientists agree that good research is ethical in nature and is guided by a basic respect for human dignity and safety. However, this has not always been the case. Modern researchers must demonstrate that the research they perform is ethically sound.

Many cellular signals are hydrophilic and therefore cannot pass through the plasma membrane. However, small or hydrophobic signaling molecules can cross the hydrophobic core of the plasma membrane and bind to internal, or intracellular, receptors that reside within the cell. Background:

Doctor-patient conflicts are frequent, often stemming from communication gaps and unethical practices.
Current medical curricula lack sufficient training in patient care ethics.
Developing soft skills in medical students is essential.

Purpose of the Study:

To create a Medical Ethics in Patient Care (MIME) module for interns.
To validate the MIME module through peer review and pilot testing.
To standardize and pilot the module for future implementation.

Main Methods:

Faculty development workshops and Delphi method with alumni informed module design.
The module underwent peer validation, including questionnaires and pre/post-tests.
A 4-day pilot workshop was conducted with 17 interns, followed by standardization.

Main Results:

A 1-day faculty workshop involved 25 participants; 59 alumni completed Delphi rounds.
Expert peer review led to an 11-area module, pilot-tested on 17 interns.
Feedback resulted in a standardized, validated 18-hour MIME module.

Conclusions:

Curriculum innovation through medical ethics training is effective for interns.
Active participation in supervised patient care fosters ethics, compassion, and communication skills.
The developed MIME module is a valuable tool for enhancing essential soft skills in future physicians.
