  • The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) mandates insurance coverage for clinical preventive services with A or B evidence ratings, aiming to increase uptake.
  • Despite ACA mandates, public knowledge of and positive attitudes toward evidence-based clinical guidelines remain significantly low.
  • Effective communication strategies are needed to promote adherence to cancer screening guidelines, such as Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) and Pap tests.

Purpose of the Study:

  • To examine public beliefs and intentions regarding adherence to Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) and Pap test screening guidelines.
  • To test consumer reactions to and understanding of clinical preventive service guidelines.
  • To experimentally compare the receptivity of different message frames designed to promote PSA and Pap test recommendations.

  • A population-based randomized experiment was conducted involving US adults.
  • Participants were recruited from a national sample, with eligibility criteria for specific age groups and genders for PSA and Pap test messaging.
