Background:

  • Osteosarcoma is a common childhood cancer, typically affecting long bones.
  • Telangiectatic osteosarcoma is an uncommon subtype with very few reported cases in young children.
  • No cases of telangiectatic osteosarcoma have been documented in infants prior to this report.

Observation:

  • A 10-month-old female infant presented with a lytic tumor on her right ninth rib.
  • The tumor was surgically resected and pathologically diagnosed as telangiectatic osteosarcoma.
  • This represents an exceptionally rare presentation of this specific osteosarcoma subtype in an infant.

Findings:

  • The infant patient diagnosed with telangiectatic osteosarcoma showed a positive response to initial treatment.
