A rare middle rectal artery variant originated from the lateral sacral artery. This artery penetrated sacral nerves, highlighting anatomical considerations for pelvic surgery and autonomic nerve preservation during rectal cancer excision.
Area of Science:
- Anatomy
- Vascular Anatomy
- Surgical Anatomy
Background:
- Variations in the middle rectal artery's origin are documented.
- Detailed descriptions of its trajectory, especially concerning adjacent nerves, are less common in anatomical literature.
