Correlation between RAGE gene promoter methylation and diabetic retinal inflammation

Diabetic retinopathy (DR) patients show RAGE gene promoter hypomethylation, correlating with reduced inflammation. Inhibiting this hypomethylation increased inflammatory markers, suggesting RAGE promoter methylation suppresses diabetic retinal inflammation.
