Summary

Mastoid osteomas, rare benign tumors, are diagnosed using temporal bone CT scans. Surgical removal offers good cosmetic and curative outcomes with minimal recurrence risk.

  • A case of an adult patient treated for a mastoid osteoma is presented.

Findings:

  • Surgical resection is the primary treatment for mastoid osteomas causing cosmetic deformity.
  • The prognosis for mastoid osteomas is favorable, with excellent cosmetic and curative results.
  • Recurrences and malignant transformations of mastoid osteomas are exceedingly rare.

Implications:

  • This case highlights the diagnostic utility of CT scans in identifying rare mastoid osteomas.
  • Effective surgical management ensures positive patient outcomes and minimal long-term complications.
  • Understanding the benign nature and low recurrence rate of mastoid osteomas informs clinical management strategies.
