PCSK9 induces a pro-inflammatory response in macrophages

Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) promotes inflammation in macrophages by increasing inflammatory cytokine mRNA. This PCSK9 pro-inflammatory effect on macrophages is largely dependent on the low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR).
